I’m in the summer air
That’s me
The rain and the sun to our family tree
In warm arms
and high places
recalling the feelings but forgetting the faces
But it’s getting colder
and the breeze is all we have
(it’s all we have)
but don’t be sad
I’m in the summer air
I just want you to know
that I’ve been making friends with your ghost
we miss the person that you were
(the life you gave it all up for)
we miss the person that you were
but we DON’T MISS YOU
now we don't miss you
Where will we go
when the trees refuse to grow,
and the wind no longer blows?
Like a house with no windows
(one day the rain will fall)
we all were there, the summer air beneath our nose
and in those circles, how I swore we flew
when we had our wings, the songs we'd sing, back when we had you
one day the rain will fall
we’ll be in that place waiting with them all

This is our periphilion
a solstice in our pain
you can’t believe in angels like we believe in ghosts
still neither one is gonna take us away
You can take your deathbed-optimism
and we’ll hold tight to what we know
you can’t believe in angels like we believe in ghosts
I bet the view is so much different from the sky...
The sun came up, but it never cracked our own horizon
aphelion- but it only brought the tides we die in
I tried so hard to change
This is our periphilion
a solstice in our pain
you can’t believe in angels like we believe in ghosts
still neither one is gonna take us away
gonna take us away...

The Geriatric Plan
02:52
|
|||
I’m doing all I can!
with only these bones
and the flesh of a man
somatic incarnations of our geriatric plan
I watched it slip away
And I’ll stand here and watch myself go
From the panorama where we’d lay so long ago
On the wings of eagles and pestilence- means to an end - an ocean’s distance
You are not the only thing in dirt
there’s the seeds beneath the leaves from which our hope would grow
and our veins intertwined with the roots where we stood
and our hearts became the wood
All machines will turn to rust
just as all our bones will fade to dust
and our seeds did fall between the rocks and sand
and so would conclude our geriatric plan
You are not the only thing in the dirt
The clouds rolled in and nature took her turn
as I reached for your hand we have only come to learn
that good things die, with the time, between the rocks and sand
and so would conclude our geriatric plan
Hand in hand the world did fade away
Our tree’s not growing roots
Our tree’s not growing roots...

Where is my home?
it’s not a time or place
not cracked smiles on a glass face
i’ve walked for miles and miles on these city streets
I made friends with fall leaves
but the autumn winds have never carried me
left bare just like December trees
but the bark has worn away
and the skies will break another day
(break another day)
In the absence of life and of love
when they fell like angels from the skies above
to the streets below
when we fall we all seem to fall alone
alone
Hand in hand, arm and arm they seem
like a view from the coast but they’ll never reach the sea
yet in the tides of change we’re washed away
To live and to breathe for this dying breath
is to dream and to wake with a hole inside your chest
but of still no distance, could be the death
The death
seasons change
we’re washed away
I made friends with fall leaves
but the autumn winds have never carried me
and the winters of this town always seem so cold
when the summer has your heart and your mind to hold
And i’ll always tread the ocean just to not find the shore
from the abandoned houses to the city morgue
when that glass lies broken amongst the leaves
and we can no longer see the graves from the sea
I’m home
Home.
I am home.

Remembrance
03:56
|
|||
Where the waves crash up onto the beach
somewhere between the heavens and the sea
and still i walk this earth alone
the anchor’s up, but this ship’s not sailing home
but this ship’s not sailing...
what was once ours to hold
now lifeless and cold
to the noose that wrapped around our necks
the winter’s night that stole our lives and breath
We’ve got to wake ourselves up
you’ve been dreaming dead again
the vultures and the crows are coming for those caught in the throws of..
..of the allures of this castle
another needle-veined Capulet
the prince of nothing more than a name comes bearing a crown made of regret
In remembrance of
Me and my friends, we left our lives
we saw it fade away, under the city lights
we finally burned that town- the place that killed our love
so we could sing this song in remembrance of
Me and my friends, we left our lives
we saw it fade away, but we held on tight
we finally burned that town- the place that killed our love
so we could sing this song in remembrance of

Addressing the Coast
02:34
|
|||
Addressed to the Coast:
unobtainable, ineffectual, unsustainable, yet still we reach
and though my mind is clear we’ll spend another year
searching for questionless answers- lost at sea
We can’t find either:
the motivation or the means
Now my composure’s gone after all it seems
though we kept this city under lock and key
it could not last...forever
Though everyone was gold
we have nothing left to have or hold
but our hearts and souls
Desolation, our own ruination, through which we all still elect to sift
Well it was worth it all
to the friends i’ve made: I’ve loved you all
Now there’s these mountains to climb,
but I don’t see why
the high road’s not paved, but the ending’s the same
and our progress has coalesced with regrets
and the sun’s always in my eyes every rainy day
even crows have wings to fly away
And the people around me- the reason I’m alive
put the flowers on the graves where all my heroes died
so if worst comes to best and I lay myself to rest
cast me off with sinking ships, and wish them all my best
And I hope that this finds you well
I hope that this finds you well
- Lost at sea
